Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting
Volvo owners appreciate their key fob's handy remote that comes with features. They can lock and unlock their vehicle or start the motor and even locate it with a smartphone application.
Place the fob's face up on a clean surface. Find the button to let it go. Place a coin in between the cover of the fob and the fob, then carefully pull it up.
Locking the Door
Volvo's remote keyfobs let you unlock your vehicle's doors, tailgate and fuel filler flap with the press of a button. They can also switch on the ignition, trigger the alarm, and operate your sunroof, if it's equipped. You'll never have to search for your keys or get locked out of your vehicle.
You might not know about certain key fob features that aren't visible. One of these features is an unlocked/lock button that you can use in the event that your key fob battery dies.
Place your key fob on the table with the Volvo logo facing up to press the manual lock/unlock. Find the black button that is located near the edges of the body of the key fob, and gently press it to unlock a cover that hides the manual key blade. The cover can be turned clockwise using a flathead, or coin.
The Engine is Ready to Start
Modern Volvo key fobs provide the convenience and performance that is not available with manual keys. additional reading , just like any other battery-operated device, will lose charge over time. If you've noticed that your key fob has become less responsive to pressing the lock or unlock buttons, that's an indication that it needs a new battery.

If your vehicle comes with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also use the key fob to activate this feature. The vehicle will then cool or heat to the same temperature it was set to when parked, and it will run for up to 15 minutes.
Remove the back cover of the key fob by using your fingernail. A button should be placed underneath the cover on an angle, close to the body's edge. Slide it down and to the right. The cover will be released, and then slide off, revealing the manual blade! If you are still unable to locate the button, you can search the newly revealed manual key access to determine whether there is a hidden slot or lever.
Close the Windows
Volvo key fobs have an unnoticed feature that allows you to immediately roll down all the windows. This is a fantastic feature to have when trying to squeeze into a tight parking space, or just when you're in need of fresh air in the cabin while driving.
To unlock your Volvo, press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower all of the windows, and the sunroof if it comes with one. Once you're finished with the car you can lock everything by pressing the lock button once more for four seconds.
You can also use your key fob to turn on your car's panic alarm. This will sound an alarm that is loud and attention-grabbing that will frighten off thieves and allow you to return home safely after a long night out. This feature is handy if you reside in a hazardous area or wish to keep your family safe when you are away from home.
Opening the Tailgate
Volvo has loaded its key fobs with lot of handy features. These are great when you're slammed with shopping, or helping your children pack their sports equipment after a workout.
For instance, if have the Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and programmable height (if equipped), you can open it by using the key fob. Just press the button to open it and then use the same button to close it when you're done.
When you're ready to get your car started then use the key fob to press the START button (and don't worry about your battery dying or your car not starting because it comes with a backup mechanical key slot as well). This is one of the many tips that will benefit your new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm
Modern key fobs offer an array of benefits over a conventional mechanical car key. But, they're not working completely for a long time, and the batteries can eventually die. You can try programming your key fob at home if are in a hurry or don't have time visit a shop.
Choose a clean, flat surface and lay out your key fob, battery and any other keys. Find the small black button located at the lower left corner of the key fob, then move it to the right. The cover should come loose and fall off leaving the key's mechanical blade beneath it.
The key fob's unlock button twice quickly, and you will be able open all the doors as well as the tailgate. By pressing the lock button for two seconds, you can also close the windows and sunroof when they're fitted. Reconnect the battery and the alarm should stop.
